Give us a call today for furnace repair and routine maintenance to make sure you’ll be ready for winter — pumpkin spice latte in hand.

Try the Thermostat

The first way to know if you’re in need of heater repair is, of course, to check your system! Go ahead and start by turning on the thermostat. Do you hear the heat kick on pretty soon? If so, then you’re most likely not in need of serious furnace repair. If you don’t hear or feel the heat start up, then pull off the cover, make sure wire connections are secure, or call your local HVAC contractors to see what’s going on.

Change the Air Filters

The air filters in your HVAC system should be changed every few months or washed and reused if you have a permanent electrostatic filter. This will prolong your HVAC system’s life and prevent damage.

Cover the AC Condenser

To prepare for winter, you’ll want to cover your AC condenser to protect it from falling icicles, hail, or even big blizzards. Use a board or other material to cover the fan, but don’t wrap it in a tarp or anything else that will trap in moisture.

Clean the Heat Exchanger

An essential part of preventing furnace repair is simply maintaining your HVAC system. Hire an HVAC contractor to brush and vacuum out the unit and to look for cracks while they’re at it.

Clean and Lubricate the Blower Motor

Read the owner’s manual to find out if your motor needs lubrication. If so, then clean and lubricate it, or simply clean it if not. Again, our HVAC contractors in Lee’s Summit and Blue Springs can help with this furnace service.

Test the Igniter Switch

If you have an old furnace, you may need to relight the pilot. Otherwise, test the igniter switch. If it doesn’t work, press reset and check your breaker. If you’re still having problems, it’s time to call us for furnace repair.

Check the Carbon Monoxide Detectors

Finally, it’s important to test or replace your carbon monoxide detectors so you can ensure you and your family will be not only warm but also safe all winter long.
